Dummies' Guide to Apparell Fusion
Since there are no definitive guides to handle all cases for apparel fusion, I'll attempt to write a short guide to explain some of the basics of apparel fusion.

Part 1: You and Your Apparel

To obtain apparel you need to purchase it from the item mall or buy it in game from another player (via stall or trade). When you first get your apparel, it apparel will be blank with no stats. Don't freak out, that’s how it is to start and we will make it MUCH better soon.

Part 2: Simple Fusion - Fusing Your Apparel without Gems

1.) Now that you have your apparel you need a fusion scroll. But this either from the IM or cheap in game (~5K-25K on Penguin)
2.) Get your favorite piece of equipment, be it weapon or armor, and head to the Shaitan black smith: Smithy (902,3495)
3.) Talk to him and choose fuse apparel.
4.) Drag your fusion scroll into the top middle slot.
5.) Drag your apparel into the top left slot.
6.) Drag your weapon/armor into the top right slot.
7.) At the bottom now click "fuse apparel."
8.) Confirm selection for designated price.

At this point you should see some swirling light and a little firework go off. This means the fusion competed. Congratulations, you've just fused your first piece of apparel!!! Here is my example for how it should go:

Tri-blader Shirt + Battle Armor of Kylin + Fusion scroll + 60K gold = lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt (BUT WITH KYLIN STATS!!!)

Part 3: Basic Fusion – Apparel with Gems

I am going to ASSUME you already have a piece of fused with a gem. If you do not know how to gem your equipment, please refer to the guide index's fusing guide.

1.) Get your favorite piece of gemmed equip and head back to Smithy: Shaitan (902,3495)
2.) Talk to him and choose fuse apparel.
4.) Drag your fusion scroll into the top middle slot.
5.) Drag your apparel into the top left slot.
6.) Drag your weapon/armor into the top right slot.
7.) Drag your fusion catalyst into the appropriate slot. (will follow with which one it is later)
8.) At the bottom now click "fuse apparel."
9.) Confirm selection for designated price.

At this point you should see some swirling light and a little firework go off. This means the fusion competed. Congratulations, you've just fused your apparel WITH A GEM!!! Here is my example for how it should go:

Sword of Azure Thunder + Spike of Sistine (+1) + Fusion scroll + Fusion Catalyst + gold (idk what it is, this is hypothetical)l = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder +1

Part 4: Advanced Fusion – Equipment Replacement

Part 4 will occur in 3 cases. Case 1 will describe the effects of fusing new equipment over your existing equipment, case 2 will describe fusing a framestone into your apparel, and case 3 will cover fusing apparel into apparel.

Case 1: Fusing Over

So now you have stronger equips and you want to fuse over your old stuff. From illegal means or otherwise you got a nice new lvl 65 unsealed Armor of Engima and are ready to kick the old Battle Armor of Kylin to the curb. Well this is just as simple as before. Just follow the process for step 2:

1.) Now that you have your apparel you need a fusion scroll. But this either from the IM or cheap in game (~5K-15K on Penguin)

At this point you should see some swirling light and a little firework go off marking the completion of the fusion. Congratulations, you've just upgraded to something better!!

lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt + Armor of Enigma + Fusion scroll + 65K gold = lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt (BUT WITH TRUE ENIGMA STATS!!!)

Case 2: Framestones and You

Framestones are a bit of a different animal than regular equipment. They are kind of like armor but more like a gem while still not a gem. The process is exactly the same as in Part 3 of the guide where you are fusing with a gem. TOP will treat the framestone almost like equipment with a gem so you will need a fusion catalyst.

1.) Get your new Framestone and head back to Smithy: Shaitan (902,3495)
2.) Talk to him and choose fuse apparel.
4.) Drag your fusion scroll into the top middle slot.
5.) Drag your apparel into the top left slot.
6.) Drag your framestone into the top right slot.
7.) Drag your fusion catalyst into the appropriate slot. (will follow with which one it is later)
8.) At the bottom now click "fuse apparel."
9.) Confirm selection for designated price.

Again with the fireworks and you should have something like this:

lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt + Hermes Framestone + Fusion scroll + Fusion Catalyst + gold = lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt (BUT WITH HERMES STATS!!!)

Case 3: Ugly Apparel Just Got Pretty

There has been a lot of questions about whether or not you can fuse your current apparel that you got tired of into a new set and the answer is yes. If you are tired of your old apparel then you can fuse it into a new one, change the way it looks, and retain the stats. Just remember that the Apparel that you are fusing INTO is on the top LEFT and the old one you are tired of is in the top RIGHT. Also if you have gems in it USE A CATALYST OR YOUR GEMS WILL BE LOST!!!

1.) Take your new and old apparel to the Shaitan black smith: Smithy (902,3495)
3.) Talk to him and choose fuse apparel.
4.) Drag your fusion scroll into the top middle slot.
5.) Drag your NEW APPARELL into the top left slot.
6.) Drag your OLD APPAREL into the top right slot.
7.) At the bottom now click "fuse apparel."
8.) Confirm selection for designated price.

lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt (with Enigma Stats) + Tiger Cavalry Armor + Fusion scroll = lvl 10 Tiger Cavalry Armor (BUT WITH ENIGMA STATS!!!)

Or if it has a gem:

lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt (with Enigma Stats + lvl 1 Collosus Gem) + Tiger Cavalry Armor + Fusion scroll + Fusion Catalyst = lvl 10 Tiger Cavalry Armor (with Enigma Stats + lvl 1 Gem of Collosus)

Part 5: Framestones Aren't Good Enough, They Could Get Better?!?!?!

Well now you realized, "Huh, I got this great stuff but I'm just short of god-hood. I should finally upgrade." So now I will detail how to upgrade your apparel.

Here is a special note. Tales of Pirates has not instituted the apparel fusion system where the item starts at lvl 0 with 80% efficiency. Every mall item fused starts at lvl 10 (100% efficiency) and is upgradeable to 15 (110%). You gain a 2% stat boost per lvl of apparel.

1.) You now need a Strengthening scroll and a Strengthening Crystal. Buy the scroll either from the IM or cheap in game (~10K-20K on Penguin) and the catalyst the same way (unsure of in game prices).
2.) Get beautiful apparel with it frame stone that wasn't good enough, and head to the Shaitan black smith: Smithy (902,3495)
3.) Talk to him and choose upgrade apparel.
4.) Drag your Str scroll into its slot.
5.) Drag your apparel into its slot.
6.) Drag your catalyst into the appropriate slot.
7.) At the bottom now click "upgrade apparel."
8.) Confirm selection for designated price.

Your result after the fireworks will be an upgraded piece of apparel. YAY, now you gained an extra 2% on all your stats. Here is an example:

lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt + Str Scroll + Str Catalyst + 1.21 million gold = lvl 11 Tri-blader Shirt

Upgrade Prices:

lvl 11 = 1.21 mill
lvl 12 = 1.44 mill
lvl 13 = 1.69 mill
lvl 14 = 1.96 mill
lvl 15 = 2.25 mill

The price increases with each successive level and there is a chance of failure at each step. Some people upgrade to lvl 15 with no failures while others fail almost every time. It is estimated that the sum of the money spent to go from lvl 10-15 with no failures is 8.55 mill. Considering failures, expect to spend nearly 30 mill. Good Luck!!!

Dummies' Guide to Apparell Fusion Empty Re: Dummies' Guide to Apparell Fusion

Part 6: Gemming Your Apparel

Well, you thought you were a god when you upgraded your apparel but you only turned out to be a demi-god. Now you require the all mighty power of gems to restore your faith in justice....The justice you dish out that is. This section will NOT tell you how to do it only that its possible. You can fuse and gem your apparel after you fuse into it, just like a normal weapon as long as it has a socket first or if you add one.

1.) Adding a socket: If your item does not have a socket you must make one first before attempting to gem your weapon/armor or it will fail. So here is an example.

lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder + equipment stabilizer + equipment catalyst + money = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder w/ 1 socket

2.) Adding your gem: It works the same way as before with standard gemming:

lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder w/ 1 socket + lvl 1 refining gem + lvl 1 Gem of Rage + money = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder +1 (gem of rage)

3.) Multiple Sockets and Gems: Yes, you can add a second socket and gem on your apparel. Just follow steps 1 and 2 to add another socket and gem.

That’s it for gemming. It follows all the same rules as gemming regular equips. Here's some advice from me. If you are considering fusing a weapon at anytime, hold off on gemming it until after you fuse it. This saves you the need for a catalyst. But you can add the socket before fusing into apparel. Sockets are retained after fusing without using a catalyst (TESTED AND PROVEN!!!). But remember, you CAN add a socket to apparel after fusion. So add your socket whenever you want, just save your gem till after fusing (if possible) to save that extra cost. ^_^

Part 7: Special Cases and Things to Watch Out For

These are just good things to know about apparel.

1.) If you try to fuse a piece of equip on top of apparel that has been fused AND upgraded, you WILL LOSE YOUR LVL. For example:

lvl 11 Tri-blader Shirt + Hermes Framestone + Fusion scroll + gold = lvl 10 Tri-blader Shirt (but with Hermes Stats) <-----Notice its now only lvl 10 NOT 11

So don't just upgrade your apparel if you know you'll be refusing it later. Upgrading is EXPENSIVE. So if you're Mr MoneyBags, then do what you want.

2.) If you try to fuse a new weapon or armor into apparel that already has a gem in it, you will lose the gem from the apparel. Example;

Sword of Azure Thunder + Fencing Sword (+1) + catalyst = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder +1
lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder (+1) + Spike of Sistine + catalyst = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder (no gem)

and

Sword of Azure Thunder + Fencing Sword (+1) + catalyst = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder +1
lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder (+1) + str scroll + str catalyst = lvl 11 Sword of Azure Thunder +1
lvl 11 Sword of Azure Thunder (+1) + Spike of Sistine + catalyst = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder (no gem)

3.) Weapons with sockets don't retain gems from apparel. Example:

Sword of Azure Thunder + Fencing Sword (+1) + catalyst = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder +1
lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder (+1) + Spike of Sistine (w/socket) + catalyst = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder w/ 1 socket(no gem)

The same will apply here if you have multiple sockets on the Spike. You would have 2 or 3 empty sockets on the apparel.

4.) Gems from new equip replace old gems on apparel. Example:

Sword of Azure Thunder + Fencing Sword (+1 Fiery Gem) + catalyst + gold = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder +1 (Fiery Gem)
lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder +1 (Fiery Gem) + Blade of Enigma +1 (Gem of Rage) + catalyst + gold = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder +1 (Gem of Rage)

5.) OOPS: I ADDED A SOCKET!! WILL I LOSE IT IF I DON'T FUSE WITH A CATALYST?!?!?!

Answer: NO, you will not lose your socket. You will retain sockets without the use of a fusion catalyst. But if that socket contains a gem, you will lose your gem.

lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder + Spike of Sistine (w/socket) + money = lvl 10 Sword of Azure Thunder (w/socket)

6.) Watch out for fusing sets with bonuses like the Black Dragon set. It gives class bonuses when you have the full set equipped, but if you fuse this set into apparell you lose any bonuses you would have had. So, if you are spoiled enough to have the BD or Death sets, don't fuse it or you will lose any potential bonuses that might be coming your way for having earned/bought the full set. Also, WHY WOULD YOU FUSE THESE ANYWAY?!?!?! THE SETS LOOK COOL ENOUGH ON YOUR OWN!!! But the ONE exception is the chaos set. These framstones MUST be fused into apparel to use them so their effect is retained while fused.

7.) There has been recent discussion about CA frames/paws/claws and refusing them so I will address this here. If you have fused a Chaos stone into apparel it is locked in as equipment for that character. So if you fuse a CA frame into a Tri-blader shirt, you cannot fuse it into a phylis bucaneer shirt and think your voyager can wear it. It has now been assigned the "Lance" requirement of the Tri-blader shirt. From that point on TOP no longer sees a CA frame, it sees a Tri-blader shirt with whatever stats. Any attempt to fuse that Tri-blader shirt into another character's (Ami, Phylis, Carlisle) apparel will cause a character conflict. TOP will register this as an error and the fusion WILL FAIL.

8.) DO NOT FUSE SEALED WEAPONS OR ARMOR INTO APPAREL. ONCE A SEALED ITEM IS FUSED INTO APPAREL YOU WILL LOSE THE ABILITY TO UNSEAL IT AND IT WILL FOREVER REMAIN IN THE SEALED STATE. SO IF YOU EVER PLAN ON UNSEALING A PEICE OF EQUIP (BE IT BoE, DoE, OR ANYTHING ELSE) FUSE IT AFTER YOU HAVE UNSEALED IT OR YOU WILL NEVER REAP THE ADDITIONAL STAT BONUSES!!! ONCE THE WEAPON OR ARMOR IS FUSED, TOP NO LONGER RECOGNIZES IT AS A SEALED EQUIP!! TO TOP, ITS JUST ANOTHER PIECE OF ARMOR AT THAT POINT! Sorry of the bolded caps but this is VERY important!!

Class Requirements:

1. Armor does NOT have a class requirement as of yet, but it DOES have a character requirement. This means that all apparel equipment is specific to Lance, Carlisle, Phylis, or ami. So lets take my example of the Tri-blader Shirt from earlier. This is a Lance apparel. It can be worn by noobs, explorers, voyagers, hunters, sharp shooters, Crusaders, and swordsman as long as the character is a Lance. You cannot give this to a Carlisle and have him equip it (same goes for Ami and Phylis).

2.) Weapons DO have class requirements. There are certain weapons only equipable by Crusaders, others by voyagers, and so on. Some on the other hand are not class specific. Here are a couple examples. The sword of azure thunder is a 1-handed sword specific to swordsman. This means a voyager may NOT equip this, nor forge any daggers into it. Now consider the Poop on a Stick, lol, this is labeled a "1-handed sword" but is not listed with a class or character requirement. Both Poop on a stick and foldable chair can be equipped by all classes (and the poop is depicted as being held by a Phylis). PLEASE first READ the description before purchasing any item mall apparel weapons so you know whether they are equipable to your class.

Well, I have covered every scenario I can think of. I hope this helps, and if there is anything I can add, let me know and I will update this. Pictures to come later.

Special Thanks:

I would like to thank Chuck for his input. He helped me with a few things regarding forging into apparel. I would also like to thank anyone else out there who may have asked questions which prompted answers and brought on this update, as well as the person who reminded me about losing bonuses from sets. Thank you Elgrum for giving me lvl 15 on the upgrade prices and thanks to TwilightHikari for giving me the formula to finish out my chart. Without you I would not have been able to get all of this info jammed in.
